Not too long ago, I posted a link about End of the Spear. Christians and churches were upset over this movie because a gay actor, Chad Allen, was playing a leading missionary as well as the grown up son.
I saw this movie last night and enjoyed it. It's a true story about 5 missionary families trying to make contact with the Waodani tribe in Ecuador. When contact was successful, 5 men landed for closer contact. However, due to miscommunication, they were speared to death. Instead of fleeing or seeking revenge, the 5 widows made contact and moved into their territories.
Coming from a private Christian school, I remember reading about this true story of the 5 missionary families. However, the book that I read was more about the Elliot family more than anything. The movie does mention the Elliots but it was from the perspectives from the Saint family.
This movie is worth checking out. It's nothing fantastic but it's nothing boring. Just a good ol' fashioned movie.
