Walk the Line

Walk the Line was an enjoyable movie to watch, although it did became a bit too long. Some parts could have been edited out of the film.

Anyways, Walk the Line is based on the life of country singer Johnny Cash, from his childhood to his proposal to June Carter, another country singer.

The movie is very similar to Ray, where both movies started off with a childhood tragedy. From the start of their music career, they get involved with drugs to keep up with the hectic schedules and travling of the music world. Of course, they eventually free themselves from drugs that have caused a damper in their professional and personal lives.

The only exception was that Johnny was married to Vivian before he even began his music career. (Vivian is played by Ginnifer Goodwin, who plays the 3rd wife in Big Love.) Once he began his first tour, he met June Carter, whom he enjoyed listening as a child. Gradually, he cannot help but fall in love with her. Yeah, they eventually married.

Joaquin Phoenix did an awesome job, playing Johnny. However, throughout the movie, he would do a certain movement with his lips and I thought he'd be better off portraying Elvis. Ironically, Elvis had a couple cameo appearances in the film. (No, not the real Elvis.) Reese Witherspoon did a good job as June Carter. I believe Reese is gonna be around for a long time. She reminds me of another Sally Field or Meryl Streep.
